Fund raising
Please find below our current fund raising initiatives. If you have any ideas for fund raising, have contact with funding bodies or want to help by donating, please contact us via email.
Redbridge Local Lottery
We are part of the Redbridge Local Lottery where we receive 50% of all ticket sales. Be in the weekly national draw for your chance a monthly prize of £25K (and don't forget to select South Woodford Society as your good cause!). We can then decide how we spend the money - current initiatives we are working on include the wildflowers at Eastwood Green and our community orchard/forest garden. You can do a monthly payment or one-offs*. Good luck! 🎊🎉
* A one-off payment, (for 5 draws, ie one month) is possible but this is for a minimum of £5 as any less would impact the amount that can be provided for prizes and the lottery fund. If you go through the process of selecting a "line" then when you have to chose your payment method, you can select a one-off payment, then number of months you want to play for. You then enter your card details as normal.
Co-op Local Cause
You can read all about their communities fund here and make sure you select us - we have since over £3000 so far!
Please note that you will need to become a member of the coop first - if you have a blue card, you should already be a member but will need to register to select us as your local cause. This only takes a few minutes and once this is done, 1p from every £1 you spend will be donated to the Society. If you forget your card, just ask for your receipt to be able to reimbursed and you can add it to your account online.
Other funding opportunities
Charitable and other organisations, including local councils, have various sources of funding available to them and wherever possible we will apply for these funds. Recent applications include:
Pride of Britain (via Daily Mirror) - We received £2,500 from the Pride of Britain Fund in 2020. The money was mainly used on our greening projects in connection with the Spacehive crowdfunding project.
Community Orchard - Successful! Funding supplied by LBR
Grow Back Greener Fund - Unsuccessful but good feedback supplied for future bids.
Near Neighbours - Unfortunately, we do not fall within this organisation’s geographical area.
